Doris J. Mentis

MUNCIE- Doris Joan Mentis, 87, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 26, 2022 at Signature Health Care.
She was born on September 20, 1934 in Muncie, the daughter of Arthur B. and Marion L. (Marshall) Harthan. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Ball State University in 1956. She went on to teach at Riley Elementary School for seven and a half years, then spent twenty-two years teaching preschool at Hillcroft Services. She married Paul Mentis on June 25, 1957. They went on to raise four children. She loved reading, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Doris will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by three of her children, Maria Ferber (husband Robert) of Bradenton, FL, Michael Mentis (wife Melissa) of Greentown and Matthew Mentis (wife Michele) of Muncie; eight grandchildren Danielle Lowe, Erin Lowe, Al Lowe, Joshua Mentis, Alexis Mentis, Megan Mentis, Lincoln Mentis and Myla Mentis; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul on October 26, 1995; son, Mark A. Mentis ("Uncle Marky") on October 30, 2019; two granddaughters, Melia Sue Mentis on April 17, 2002 and Mabrey Lyn Mentis on January 4, 2020; sister, Martha DeCrastos.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Reverend Bryan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022.
