Doris Nix Obituary

Doris Jean Nix, 90, Union, formerly of St. Clair, departed this life in Pacific, Sunday, July 27, 2025.

Doris was born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, daughter of John Floyd Robinette and Laura Grace Robinette, nee Hurd. In April of 1956 she was united in marriage to Calvin Everette Nix and three children blessed this union.

Doris is survived by her husband, Calvin Nix, Union; her children, Terrie Lynn Reed and husband, Terry, Pacific, Ron Nix and wife, Rhonda, Lonedell, and Mike Nix, Las Vegas, Nevada; two brothers, Troy Robinette and wife, Patricia, Dade City, Florida, and Paul Robinette and wife, Dora, St. Clair; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; cousins and many friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, John and Laura Robinette; and two brothers, Coy Robinette and Doyle Robinette.

Doris was a Christian and past member of Parkway Church of the Nazarene, St. Clair. During her working career she was employed by Von Weise Gear Company, St. Clair for 28 years as a line worker and later as a tool crib manager. She had also worked at Lewis Caf?, St. Clair for a short time. Being born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, her family moved to Dade City, Florida when she was twelve and that is where she eventually met and married Calvin.

They moved to the St. Clair area in the 1960s and the rest was history. Doris learned to play the piano late in life, was an avid reader and also loved to sing. She enjoyed being outdoors, working in the yard and flower garden. Doris especially loved to travel at vacation time with her family. What meant most to her was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever.

A kind and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great- and great-great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great- and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with funeral services following at 1 p.m., with Rev. Roger Johnson officiating.

She was laid to rest at Chapel Hill Gardens, Dade City, Florida.
