Doris Parcels Obituary
Funeral services for Doris Orr Parcels, 95, from St. Joseph, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in the chapel of Dennard First National Funeral Home - Winnsboro, with Rev. Larry Foster officiating; interment will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery, Newellton; visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Doris was born January 6, 1928, in Oak Grove to the union of the late John Thomas Orr and the late Ruth Holland Orr, and passed to her eternal reward December 9, 2023, at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro.
Doris attended First Baptist Newellton; she witnessed for Jesus every chance she got; she loved to sing, if she wasn't singing, she was humming; she was an accomplished seamstress and loved needlework; and she was strong willed.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Bill Parcels, son Jerry McDaniel, daughter Judy Lord, son Ronald Gene McDaniel, and infant son Cleveland Wayne McDaniel.
Doris is survived by her daughter Johnnie Faye Straight of Baton Rouge, son Danny McDaniel of Waterproof, daughter LouAnn Jinks of Newellton, son Cleve Thomas McDaniel of Gilbert, daughter Loretta Daves of St. Joseph, brother Jimmy Orr of Oak Grove, and her aunt Cletha Mae Orr, twenty-eight (28) grandchildren, sixty-one (61) great-grandchildren, eleven (11) great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
The pallbearers will be Courtney Bamburg, John Daves, Jr., Jamie Jinks, Jr., Kenneth McDaniel, Matthew McDaniel, and Thomas "Bubba" McDaniel.
