Doris “Nanny” Elaine Powell, aged 78, of McRae, Arkansas, gained her wings to her heavenly home on the morning of June 29, 2024. She was a graduate with the class of 1963 from McRae High School, where she later worked as a bookkeeper for many devoted years.
Doris grew to become a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, which she so greatly loved. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of McRae for many years, where she spent her time teaching “her babies” in Sunday school, working long hours in the summer heat for vacation bible school, and congregating with lifelong friends. She also spent many years volunteering for CASA, making a difference for children in need.
Doris is survived by her brother, Tommy Sanders; her son, Greg Price (Debbie); her daughter, Holly Dickerson (John); her son, Bobby Powell (Marley); her grandson, Dustin Price (Rachael); her grandson, Matt Jordan (Brooke); her granddaughter McKenzie Baker (Mylek); her granddaughter, Gracie Holt; her granddaughter, Teigha Black; her grandson, Jordan Dickerson; her granddaughters, Makala, Emalie and Zoe Benefield; her granddaughter, Ava Dickerson; and her great grandchildren, Rustin Price, Paizlee Jordan, Harlee Jordan, Raylynn Price, Korin Baker, Jace Jordan, Kohen Baker, and Baylen Black; and, lastly, by her beloved dog, Sugar Powell.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Robert W. Powell; by her parents, Talbert and Shirley Sanders; by her brother Jerry Sanders; and by her granddaughter Emmaly Holt.
She leaves this temporary home to join her one true love in the home she has longed for for so many years.
