Doris Bruce Price took her last breath on December 23, 2024, at MCV Hospital in Richmond, VA. at the age of 92. Doris was born in Maryland on October 10, 1932 to the late Horace Sr. and Ruth Bruce. She and her family moved to Kents Store when she was a child, where she remained until her declining health required her to move in with her son in Valentines, VA.
Doris accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of County Line Baptist Church, where she served tirelessly as long as she was able. She attended Fluvanna County Public Schools and was employed at the Leggett Department store in Charlottesville, VA. She worked there for several decades until her retirement. She received several honors and recognitions, but the one she was most proud of was the Pacesetters Award.
Doris married the love of her life, James Price, on December 5, 1952, and they had many wonderful years together. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents, Horace Sr. and Ruth Bruce; her brothers, Shirley Bruce and Horace Bruce Jr.; and her sisters, Ruth Turpin and Reva Salley.
Doris leaves to cherish her memory her devoted son, Timothy Price, and his wife, Deborah; her sister Janie Holland; her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Price, Jessica Jones, and Jasmine Price of Valentines VA., and Terrance Price of Emporia, VA.; five great-grandchildren, a devoted friend, Mrs. Sadie Price, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Doris was a loving wife and a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved her family, but most of all, she was a woman of God. She treated everyone with kindness and respect, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will be cherished forever.
