Doris Quaring

Doris Quaring, 92, of Broadus, Montana, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, in Rapid City, South Dakota, following a brief illness.

Doris was born on August 6, 1933, in Ridge, Montana, to John and Mildred Blaylock. The fourth of five children, she was raised in southeastern Montana and moved with her family to Broadus in 1947. She graduated from Broadus High School in 1951 and, on June 11, 1952, married the love of her life, Roger Quaring. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and community.

Doris is survived by her devoted husband, Roger; her children, Galen Quaring (Leigh) of Oakland, California; Denise Mader (Arnie) of Biddle, Montana; Dennis Quaring (Melanie) of Broadus, Montana; and Julie Morgan (Rocco) of Ellensburg, Washington. She is also lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, her sister Jo-Ann (Annie) Trom, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, Robert Wilson, Ethel Graham, and Nellie Bea Gatlin Grosz; two nephews; and one niece.

Family was Doris' greatest treasure. She especially cherished her role as grandmother and great-grandmother. Becoming "Granny" was one of her greatest joys, a title affectionately claimed not only by her family but by many friends as well.

Doris was an enthusiastic supporter of the Broadus Hawks, the New York Yankees, and the Tennessee Lady Vols. She loved spirited competition, whether cheering on her favorite teams, watching the World Series, or enjoying a friendly card game. She found deep satisfaction in tending her rose gardens, embroidering, and spending time outdoors on the family property outside Broadus.

Her faith was central to her rich and meaningful life. The words of the poem Afterglow reflect how she wished to be remembered:

AFTERGLOW

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when day is done.

I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times, and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun of happy memories I leave behind - when day is done.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Bible Church in Broadus, MT. Condolences can be made to the family by visiting stevensonandsons.com. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Broadus Hawk Sports Boosters or a charity of one's choice.
