Doris Ann Rammelsberg, age 89, peacefully passed on Monday, March 4, 2024, at her Westerville residence. Doris was born to the late Ruth A. and Frank H. Fisher.
She was raised on the Fisher family farm in Westerville. She graduated from Westerville High School in 1952. While attending school and church, Doris met the love of her life, Clay Rammelsberg. They married March 15, 1953, and enjoyed just short of 71 years of marriage.
When first married, Doris worked at the Columbus Dispatch. In addition to being a homemaker and loving mother to six angelic children, she worked alongside Clay with whatever was needed, including driving the tractors and keeping the books for the farm.
As a lifelong resident of Westerville, Doris was an active and proud participant in 4-H and then an advisor for over 25 years. Her patience, kindness and generosity were known to many as she often shared her wealth of knowledge of sewing and cooking with her three girls and many of their friends. Doris was also a dedicated member of Farm Bureau and King's Daughters. Those that knew her also knew how much she loved a good bargain. She was always on the lookout for a good yard sale!
Together Clay and Doris delivered Meals on Wheels for 18 years. Doris and Clay had deep-rooted friendships in the community. This circle of friends rotated who would host their weekly euchre games. This tight knit group often traveled together as they visited different types of farms across the country.
Doris is survived by her devoted husband: Clay and the children this loving union produced: Glenna (Tim) Wile, Ann (Bill) Kanode, Bill (Ann) Rammelsberg, Ray (Debbie) Rammelsberg, Janice (Steve) Moore, Steve (Michelle) Rammelsberg, 23 adoring grandchildren, and was blessed with 26 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Patty (Larry) Clark, Kathy (Cliff) Petty and sisters-in-law Martha Fisher and Martha Jane Fisher.
Doris was preceded in death by her brothers: her twin brother Don and younger brother Dick Fisher. Doris loved her family dearly and took great pleasure when any of the grandchildren or great grandchildren visited.
The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff and friends at The Inn at Walnut Trail, The Gables of Westerville, and the amazing nurses at Capital City Hospice.
Friends may call Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday, March 7 at 11 a.m. The funeral service will directly follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Booth officiating. To the Rammelsberg family I send my sincere sympathy. Doris was such a lovely person; always a smile and a friendly word. I remember making turkey and noodles with her for a church dinner. Enjoy your many memories. Sincerely, Carol Moffett
