I was delighted an honored to serve with Joan in the Ann Arbor Branch of the NAACP, where she tirelessly worked for racial justice. Joan was truly a fierce tribal elder standing peacefully for what is right and good.

Joan was the first real boss that I had. She invested in me and taught me so many things from the how Planned Parenthood started, Women's Rights movement, getting involved in the community and even learning tech. I also got the chance to baby sit her fur babies (Jack and Jill) and loved looking at all her wonderful Playbill posters. I could talk to her for hours as she was so honest and open. She will truly be missed. Rest in Peace Joan.
