Doris Ione Shadbolt

Doris I. (Gunderson) Shadbolt, age 93, of North Sioux City, South Dakota passed away at her home on Friday, January 2, 2026.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elk Point with Pastor Erik Olson officiating. Burial will be in Bluff View Cemetery in Vermillion at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Visitation with family present will be from 5:30 p.m., to 6:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2026 all at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Doris was born on April 18, 1932 in Wynot, Nebraska to Carl Gunderson & Lila Knittel. She attended schools in Sioux City, Iowa.
She married Marvin (Bud) Shadbolt on October 22, 1948 in Yankton, SD. They farmed near Volin, SD until March of 1956. After that they lived in Pierre, SD, Chamberlain, SD, McCook Lake, SD, Jefferson and lastly in North Sioux City, SD.
She received her GED when she was 50 years old. She taught Sunday school and Confirmation for many years. She worked for Montgomery Wards for 20 years. After that she worked in banking for over 50 years retiring from Firstar Bank and Telco Triad Credit Union. She enjoyed dancing, playing dominos, attending family and friends' activities.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Ogan (Roger Modlin) of Jefferson, sons, Gary (Barb) Shadbolt of Jefferson, SD, and Keith Shadbolt of North Sioux City, SD; nine grandchildren, Trisha, Troy, Trevor, Andrea, Stephanie, Michael, Ashli, Alisha, and Katy; 16 great-grandchildren; her brother, James Gunderson, and her sister, Joyce (Gary) Rhine; and several nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, sons, Dennis, David, and Ronald; her parents, her siblings, Jerry, Carl Jr., Edna, Ida, Norma, and Karen; her granddaughter, Amy, and 6 great-grandchildren.
