Funeral services for Doris Roberts Simmons, 92, will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home chapel. Officiating the service will be Associate Pastor John Harp of Brookwood Baptist Church.
Doris was born on June 19, 1930 to Archie Douglas and Katherine Reed Roberts in Minden, Louisiana and passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023 in Springdale, Arkansas.
Her favorite things to do in life were read, sing and travel. Her favorite scripture is Isaiah 41:10 and her favorite song is “I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy.” She was a nurse all of her working years and retired from Willis-Knighton Health System in 1993 where she was an operating room supervisor.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, her best friend and husband, Ramon L. Simmons and her only daughter, Katherine Hope Simmons. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, M. Douglas Simmons (Susan) and Charles R. Simmons (Lydia); grandchildren, Cory Simmons (Kelly), Amanda S. Hice (Damon), Jennifer S. Cory (Michael), Philip Simmons (Carolina), Lauren S. Ford (Joey), Dr. Leigh-Ann S. Washer (Chris), Christopher McKaskle (Victoria), Mark Allen (Tiffany); and 19 great-grandchildren, Garrett, Taylor, Jackson, Hayden, B.J., Theo, Ravi, Hugo, Beckett, Britton, Madeleine, Clara, Hayes, Benjamin, Ariah, Katherine, Garrett, Devin and Kayden. She is also survived by her only brother, Charles Douglas Roberts (Jan), and two nephews, Scott Roberts (Teresa) and John Roberts (Mary) and many great-nephews and nieces, all of whom she loved very much!
Our family would like to thank the caring staff at Shiloh Nursing and Rehab in Springdale, Arkansas for all their love and kindness.
