Doris M. Smith (nee Miller) of Summit, NJ passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the age of 92.
The visitation will be held at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave., Summit, NJ on Sunday, June 4th, from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday, June 5th, at 10:30 AM for the funeral service that will begin at 11:00 AM. The burial will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ.
Doris was born in Detroit, MI, the loving daughter of Kathleen J. (nee Stewart) and Clyde Miller. Her family had relocated to East Orange, NJ, where she met and later married her beloved husband Raymond N. Smith. Together they moved to Parsippany, NJ, where they raised their loving daughter Kathy. Doris had later moved to Coconut Creek, FL where she had resided until moving back to Summit, NJ, where she resided with her daughter Kathy and son-in-law Joseph, in 2015. While residing in Summit with her family, Doris had attended SAGE Eldercare in Summit.
Doris had been employed as an executive secretary for the vitamin department at BASF Wyandotte in Parsippany, NJ for many years before retiring 30 years ago.
Doris is lovingly remembered for her great sense of humor and her love of music and dancing. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards and word find puzzles. She also volunteered her time at the local hospital while living in Florida.
Doris' greatest love was for her family. She was pre-deceased in 2000 by her beloved husband Raymond N. Smith. She is survived by her loving daughter Kathy Lynn Caporaso and her husband Joseph of Summit and her dear friend Dianne Conway. In addition to her husband, Raymond and her parents, Clyde and Kathleen Miller, Doris was also pre-deceased by her brothers, Kenneth, Donald, and Robert Miller.
