John B Scott

John B. Scott, 76, of New Providence, New Jersey, formerly of Coppell, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026.
John was born in New York City on January 9, 1950, the son of Bette (née Shapiro) and Frank Scott. He grew up in Livingston, New Jersey, and later made his home in Coppell, Texas, before returning to New Jersey in 2019, where he settled in New Providence.
John earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and went on to receive his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He enjoyed a successful career in the Treasury Department of ExxonMobil, where he worked until his retirement.
John had a deep appreciation for music and found great joy in playing the guitar and attending concerts. He also enjoyed playing golf and traveling the world. Above all, John cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored.
John is survived by his loving sons, Jason Scott and his wife Lauren, Adam Scott and his husband Chris Beacham; his sister, Stacey Fishman and her husband Robert; and his beloved grandchildren, Sophia, Helena, James, and Harper. He was predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife, Laurie P. Scott.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, January 20, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Avenue, Summit, New Jersey. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
