Joan Scott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Affinity All Faiths Mortuary - Wichita on Feb. 4, 2026.
We come together today to celebrate life and cherish the memories of Joan Patricia (Holland) Scott, a woman whose love and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her. Born on February 18, 1948, in Hutchinson, Kansas, Joan's journey of life came to a peaceful close on February 2, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 77.

Joan was the beloved daughter of the late George Phillip Holland and Lula (Carson) Holland. She was a loving sister to Georgia(Holland) Darrow and Lance Darrow, LuAnne (Holland) Cowles and David Cowles all of Hutchinson, Kansas. And a devoted brother, John Holland, of Maize, Kansas, who, along with his wife Janet, remembers Joan with fondness and deep affection. Joan's legacy continues through her loving children, Laura and Julie Scott, both of Wichita, Kansas, who carry forward the values and compassion she instilled in them. A cherished grandmother, Joan's joy was multiplied by her grandchildren, Jerell Thompson, Tyler Thompson, Carlie Parker, Jaden (Julian) Valdez, and Jaxson Scott. Each of them brought immense happiness and pride to her life, and she will be dearly missed at every family gathering, every holiday celebration, and every quiet moment that they remember her comforting presence. Joan's life was one of service and dedication, along with her husband Jerry she owned and operated ServiceMaster of Great Bend, Kansas until relocating to Hutchinson where they rejoined family working for ServiceMaster of Hutchinson, Kansas. She then went on to work for the State of Kansas in Child Support Enforcement (Wichita, Ks, 1988) where she was not just an employee but a beacon of hope and support for many families. Her selfless nature was evident in her work, as she went above and beyond to ensure that children received the care and support they deserved. While Joan's professional life was commendable, her personal interests also painted a picture of a woman of depth and affection. She had a profound love for her family, and her Irish heritage was a source of immense pride and joy. She celebrated this heritage with enthusiasm, sharing stories and traditions that will be treasured by her family for generations to come. Those who knew Joan would describe her as loving, kind, and selfless. She had a heart that was always open, ready to offer support or a kind word to anyone in need. Her ability to listen and empathize made her a cherished friend and confidant to many. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026 at 11:00 am, Affinity All Faiths Mortuary, 2850 S. Seneca, Wichita, KS.
