Doris A. Smith, age 78 of Oshkosh, passed away at Lake Shore Manor on January 9, 2026. She was born in Fond du Lac, WI on May 2, 1947 to the late Jack and Mary (King) O’laire.
A devoted home health care worker, Doris spent her life caring for others, embodying kindness and empathy in all her interactions. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her profession, as she reveled in the beauty of the outdoors. Whether fishing by the lake, swimming in the summer sun, or tending to her beloved plants and flowers, she found joy and solace in nature’s embrace. Doris was also inseparable from her faithful companion, Duke, who brought her comfort and companionship throughout her life.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Barbara (fiancé, Dale) Schingen, Connie Hendricks, Kathy Smith, Gail (Steven) Ecker; grandchildren, Kyle Bell, Jeremy (Katie), Justin, Heather Lockwood (fiancé, Tony), Jessica Walters, Stephany, Brittany, Christiana;13 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Paula) O’lare; special friend, Wayne Culver.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, David Smith, Lisa Smith, Steven Smith; son-in-law, David Hendricks; sister, Joan Mitchell.
A celebration of life will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral-Eastside, 402 Waugoo Ave. on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm.
