Doris Sowder Obituary
Mrs. Doris Jean Sowder age 86, of Mt.Vernon, KY passed away on Wednesday April 12, 2023 at her home. She was born on November 21, 1936 in Rockcastle County the daughter of the late Lonnie and Malvinia Whitaker Payne. She was a housewife, enjoyed singing, sewing, cooking, spending time with family, and was a member of the Brindle Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors are: One son; Donald Keith Sowder of Mt.Vernon. Two daughters: Betty Lou Burdette of Mt.Vernon, and Joyce Ann Hazelwood of Berea. One brother; Tex Payne of Blue Ash, OH. Eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren also survive. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband; Raymond Keith Sowder, by one daughter; Glenna Sue Spoonamore, by two brothers; Ernie & Freddie Payne, and by three sisters; Wilma Spoonamore, Brenda Payne and Linda Payne.
Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Jean Sowder will be conducted at 1 PM on Saturday April 15, 2023 at the Cox Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Skaggs Creek Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Cox Funeral Home where friends may visit from 11 AM until service time on Saturday.
