DORIS STAHL Obituary
Published by Legacy on Nov. 20, 2025.
Doris J. Stahl, 90, of Piqua, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at her home. She was born April 2, 1935 in Piqua, to the late William and Olive (Meyer) Hines. She married Earnest L. Stahl on April 25, 1953 and he preceded her in death on December 30, 2016.
With deep love and gratitude, our family announces the passing of Doris Stahl, a woman whose life was defined by devotion to family, creativity, and a love story that spanned more than six decades. To all who knew her, Doris was a steady, gentle presence-someone who put family first, welcomed everyone with warmth, and created a home filled with traditions, laughter, and unforgettable desserts.
Doris and her husband, Earnie, shared just under 64 beautiful years of marriage, a bond rooted in tenderness, humor, and unwavering loyalty. They were inseparable-always holding hands, always caring for one another, through every joy and every trial. Together, they built the kind of marriage many dream of. Doris now reunites with Earnie, their infant daughter Susan, their beloved sons Douglas and Richard Stahl, grandson-in-law Dustin Taylor, and great-grandson Brant Watkins.
Some of the family's most cherished memories were made during weekends spent camping, where Doris and Earnie formed lifelong friendships and built traditions that would carry on for generations. At home, Doris found joy in crafting-Earnie made the woodwork, and she brought it to life with her painting. She always had a craft ready for her grandchildren when they came over.
Doris was especially known for her desserts, which became the centerpiece of every holiday and gathering. She loved having her kids and grandkids around her kitchen table, rolling buckeyes, making no-bake cookies, and preparing candy for every season. She never cared about the powdered sugar everywhere or how many attempts it took-what mattered was being together. Her granddaughters honored her legacy by creating a family cookbook of all her treasured dessert recipes.
Outside of home, Doris found joy in community-cleaning in the evenings with her friends at Paul Sherry, and proudly standing among the Women of the Korean War generation.
She is survived by her daughters Diana (Chuck) Helmer and Nancy Havenar; daughters-in-law Kelly Stahl and Rhonda Semon; her grandchildren Chad (Christy) Helmer, Holly (Lindsey) Hungerford, Ashley (Brad) Youtz, Bryan (Alishia) Stahl, Natasha (Kenji) Yamauchi, Christopher Watkins, Josh (Kendra) Havenar, Brooke Taylor, Kyle (Kaitlyn) Havenar; and eighteen great-grandchildren, who loved to visit "Granny Bird" for treats and snacks.
Doris leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and joyful family traditions. Her kitchen, her crafts, and her warm heart created memories that will live on for generations.
