Doris Carole Stembaugh, 89, of Paw Paw, passed away Saturday October 15, 2022, at White Oaks in Lawton.
She was born April 11, 1933, in Benton Township, Michigan, the daughter of the late Arthur B. Rowley and Lillian (Tetlock) Rowley.
Doris excelled in academics and was the Valedictorian of Hartford High School. She married Bill Stembaugh in 1952. She attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College, where she was in the very first graduating class. She then attended Western Michigan University where she earned her bachelor's degree. During the 70 years of her marriage, Doris and her husband moved many times, spending the most time in Portage, Okemos and Paw Paw. She was a longtime active member of the Paw Paw United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas William Stembaugh, three daughters, Janeen (Patrick) Barr, Nadine (David) Aldrich and Doreen (Richard) Petersen, one son, Thomas Richard (Shari) Stembaugh, twelve grandchildren, Joshua (Louise) Barr, Jessica (Ken) Michael, Carrie (John) Dietrich, Nicole (Gary Harding) Aldrich, Corey Aldrich, Christopher (Kendra) Aldrich, Johnathon Stembaugh, Alexandra (Alan) Keck, Andrew Stembaugh, Victoria Petersen, Benajia Petersen and Miranda (Joe Tijerina) Petersen; twelve great-grandchildren, Justin (Karley) Barr, Joseph Barr, Nicholas Barr, Andrea Barr, Natalie Barr, Sierra Dietrich, Noah Dietrich, Mason Aldrich, Ethan Harding, Tyler Harding, Hunter Trowbridge, Giuliana Aldrich, special family members Wakako (Matt) Davis and their two children, Mariko and Reiko. She is also survived by her sister Sheila (Earle) Price.
Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, October 21, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church, 420 West Michigan Ave., Paw Paw, where a funeral service will commence at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Len Schoenherr officiating. Interment will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Paw Paw United Methodist Church.
