Doris Marie Stoecklein

DORIS MARIE STOECKLEIN Doris Marie (Imhoff) Stoecklein, 91 years old, died Saturday, June 28, 2025. Doris was born March 19, 1934, near Pilot Grove, Missouri, to Leo and Isabell (Smith) Imhoff. She married Robert Leo "Bob" Stoecklein on November 13, 1954, at St. Martin's Church in Pilot Grove. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past year. In addition to being a fulltime homemaker, Doris worked at a variety of places, including the Lyceum Theater, Fuqua Homes, and the Isle of Capri Casino. For several years she owned and operated the "The Very Place" Hallmark store. She was a lifetime member of S.S. Peter and Paul Parish. Doris volunteered for many charitable organizations including the hospital gift shop and church dinner coordinator, money counter, cleaner, etc. Doris was an avid card player. She was a skilled bridge player, and she and Bob enjoyed many evenings playing 6-handed pitch with friends. As her family can attest, she was an amazing cook who enjoyed putting on a feast for everyone. During retirement, Doris and Bob traveled extensively, including a two-month Alaskan adventure, a trip to the Holy Land, and explorations of many European countries. Doris is survived by her children Rob (Mary) Stoecklein of Weldon Spring, MO; Thomas Stoecklein of New York, NY; Susan (John) Unnerstall of St. Charles, MO; and by her three grandchildren: Joe (Jen) Stoecklein of Ballwin, MO; Anna Stoecklein of London, England; and Maggie Unnerstall of Cincinnati, OH. Doris has three great grandchildren: Jack, Camryn, and Benjamin Stoecklein. She is also survived by her sisters Bertha Johnston (Columbia), Pearl Holliday (Boonville), and brother Leonard Imhoff (Boonville). She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Albert, Robert, and James, sister Martha Gundy, and several sisters-and brothers-in-law. The funeral service was held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at S.S. Peter and Paul a.m. and interment followed at the S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Boonville.
