Doris Taylor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kernan Funeral Service on Mar. 31, 2026.
It is with deep sadness and a profound sense of gratitude for a life devoted to others that the family of Doris Louise Taylor announces her passing. A woman of quiet strength, steadfast compassion, and dedication to the well-being of those around her, Doris lived a life of genuine service.

Doris Louise Taylor was born on October 2, 1942, in Waterproof, Louisiana, to the loving union of Louis and Lauren (Jackson) Taylor. Doris grew up surrounded by family and shaped by the kind of deep-rooted values and community spirit that the South instills in its own. Those early years laid the foundation for a woman who would spend her life showing up for others.

Doris worked hard - with focus, determination, and purpose to build a career as a Social Worker, a calling that suited her generous spirit perfectly. She continued that dedicated work until her retirement, leaving behind a legacy of care and compassion that touched countless lives in ways that can never be fully measured.

Doris was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Louis and Lauren Taylor, and by her seven brothers and sisters.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved sister, Thelma McDonald; and a host of loving nieces and nephews who were blessed to have her in their lives and who will carry her memory forward.

Doris Louise Taylor was a social worker, a sister, an aunt, and above all, a woman who believed in the dignity and worth of every person she encountered. She spent her life proving that belief through action, and the world is a kinder place for the years she walked through it.

A memorial graveside service will be held at a future date. Details will be shared with family and friends in the coming days.

May she rest in the eternal peace she so richly deserves - finally at rest after a lifetime of caring for others.
