Doris Evelyn Walton Ward, born on November 18, 1933, in Geneva, Texas, was a beloved resident of Lumberton. She passed away on November 12, 2025, just a day shy of her 92nd birthday. Doris was the cherished daughter of Leon and Estelle Walton and grew up with 10 siblings in Sabine County.

Doris was known for her love of family gatherings filled with laughter and joy, especially when surrounded by her grandchildren. She spent several years working at the Pig Stand in Beaumont and as a cashier at local grocery stores, where she made many friends.

She is survived by her children, George Junior Maxey of Pineland, Kathy Jenkin (Sam) of Rockport, Gary Paredez (Sheila) of Lumberton, Nelda Trahan (Dale) of Port Arthur, and Shelia Taylor of Port Arthur. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Jerry Maxey and wife, Jeannie, George Maxey, Katina Yoakum, Josh Van Hook, Tyler Narvaiz, Tori Stewart and husband, Logan, J. J. Paredez, Jessie England and husband, Cole, Elijah Welch, Autumn Welch, Victor Paredez, Ryan Trahan and wife, Ashely, Michael Trahan and wife, Daniella, Amanda Rodriquez, Aaron Trahan and wife, Cammie and Tiffany Campbell; and numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Doris is also survived by her siblings, Berlene Morris of Spring, Billie Morris of Vidor, Janie McCollough of Lumberton, and Lee Walton of Norwood, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Leon and Estelle Walton, her siblings Nelda Jean Walton, Opal Waldrop, Barbara Hussey, Marlin Walton, Thomas Walton, and Kenneth Walton, and her granddaughters Kathryn Martinez, Renee Maxey, and Tenisha Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill on November 17, 2025, at 1 PM, with visitation starting at 11 AM. A graveside service will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Floyd Wright. A reception will be held at Bethal Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Pineland, Texas.

Doris will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared with all who knew her. She may be gone but will never be forgotten.
