Doris Lorraine (Potter) Watkins, 85, of Huntsville, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 23, 2023, at her home.
Doris was born on December 24, 1937, in Renick, MO to Harold and Mary ‘Juanita’ (Fainter) Potter. She graduated from Moberly High School. Doris worked for 25 years at Loma Linda and enjoyed every minute of it.
On April 5, 2006, Doris and Floyd Watkins were wed in Moberly, MO.
Doris was a social and active member of the Eagles and Moose Lodge. She really enjoyed helping with Pioneer Days in Cairo prior to her move to Huntsville. She was also a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church.
Her family and friends will always remember her for her fantastic cooking, her kind heart, taking in and loving any child, she was always the first to help anyone in need, a very loyal friend but most of all she was a kind and loving mother.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Watkins; daughter, Mary Kay McGrew; grandson, Kenneth Kirkendoll; great-grandson, Gage Kirkendoll and her parents, Mary Juanita (Glen) Sanders and Harold (Tressi) Potter.
Doris is survived by her children, Joyce (Paul) Crawford of Moberly, MO, Lorraine (Gerald) Kirkendoll of Huntsville, MO, Ladonna (Chuck) Vest of Texas, Terry (Janice) Watkins of Cairo, MO, Denise (Mike) Boessen of Columbia, MO and Tracy (Miranda) Watkins of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Bruce (Jamie) Pierce Jr. of Moberly, MO, Teressa (Jackie Glasgow) Pierce of Moberly, MO, Donna (Michael) Stephenson of Huntsville, MO, Glenda (Terry) Kirkendoll of Centralia, MO, Brenda Kirkendoll of Huntsville, MO, Nikki (Jimmy) Gafney of Kansas City, MO, Heather (Karey) Parsons of Kansas City, MO, Gabe Boessen of Columbia, MO, Josh Watkins of Cairo, MO, Ben Watkins of Cairo, MO, Jordan Watkins of Jacksonville, MO, Jolene Watkins of Columbia, MO, Jason Watkins of Idaho, Matt Vest of Texas, Pete Vest of Texas and Braxton High of Columbia, MO; many great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold (Linda) Potter of Moberly and Ronald Potter of Moberly, MO; extended family and many close friends.
A memorial service celebrating Doris' life will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly, MO followed by inurnment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly, MO. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.
