Doris Weaver Obituary

Published by Whitlock Mortuary, Inc. on Nov. 30, 2016.
Mrs. Doris Elaine Bach Weaver, age 81, of Eastanollee, GA, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Young At Heart Personal Care Home. She was born July 17, 1935 in Philadelphia to Harry and Helen Smith Bach. In 1941 the family moved to New Jersey, living in Monroeville, NJ and later, Pitman, NJ where Doris graduated from high school in 1953. She enrolled in Delaware Hospital School of Nursing in Wilmington, DE and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1956 and pursued a career in nursing for many years. On August 17, 1956, she married her high school sweetheart Robert Weaver, and they became the parents of four daughters. During their 60 year marriage, they lived in New Jersey, Florida, Georgia, and Illinois, and then Toccoa, GA became their permanent home. They attended First Alliance Church of Toccoa. Doris switched careers to become a very successful manager with Home Interiors. Bob started his own trucking company in order to more efficiently deliver goods to her hostesses. She retired from Home Interiors in 2001 and found a new passion in the Red Hat Organization and was the "Queen Mother" of a local group. Doris and Bob enjoyed traveling, concerts, Friday game night with friends, and spending time with their family. She especially loved having the whole extended family over for holidays and birthdays. She enjoyed decorating, collecting dolls, and water aerobics. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband Robert George Weaver; her daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl Harris and Steve of Eastanollee, GA, Judi Olseng and Dave of Wheaton, IL, Doreen Lawton and Ernie of Ringgold, GA, and Cindy Diaz and Carlos of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean Bates and Albert of Vineland, NJ, Peggy Simkins and Oscar of Elmer, NJ, and Virginia Turkelson of Byron Center, MI; ten grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate her life will be held at seven o'clock Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Toccoa First Alliance Church with Dr. Scott Borderud officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Toccoa Falls College School of Nursing; Make checks payable to: Toccoa Falls College with the memo: The Fetterman School of Nursing. Whitlock Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

I am so sorry to hear of Ms. Doris' passing. She was always a treasure! Such a giving and compassionate woman of God who always had a smile on her face and such an addictive laugh! I just learned the news and I want to express my deepest sympathies to Bob and her family.
The Weavers usually had a standing reservation at Gate Cottage for Sunday Brunch while I was employed there. We had such fun planning events for the Red Hat Society. For anyone that has never had the pleasure of attending a Red Hat event, they are one of the most hilarious and entertaining events I had the pleasure of being involved with! The world has lost another great person and will be a sadder place with her absence. I am sure she is with her Father receiving a great reward. So sorry for your loss.
