I´m just hearing of Doris´ passing and I´m so sorry to have missed her memorial! She was such an inspiration to me as a Christian role model. She always knew how to respond to every situation with godly advice from the Bible. She had a never wavering faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. She always encouraged me in my Christian ministry whatever form it took throughout my adult life. I have really missed her and know her family and close friends will too but rejoice in her home coming to her eternal home with the other saints that passed before.

Forty years ago I moved to Odessa while separating from my husband and eventually getting a divorce. I met Doris at church and she immediately took me under her wing. She knew exactly what I was going through. I was fragile, in shock and confused. My separation happened suddenly and without warning. I was just 24 years old!
She spent hours talking with me and helping me. She treated me like a daughter and even gave me a key to her house.
I spent many nights there. She cooked meals for me and kept my coffee cup full in the morning!
We laughed and cried together. She helped put my broken heart back together again. She believed in me and understood me when very few people did.
I think she was a counselor and comforter to many others...just like me!
She loved me unconditionally when I needed it most!
She took what had been a very difficult time in her life and used it to help others. I believe God put her in my life. Later ...she celebrated my new marriage and the birth of my kids...She kept up with me and checked in from time to ...She was always available!

What a beautiful soul Ms. Doris was! I remember her fondly from Cresent Park Baptist. Love and prayers for her precious family!
