Doris Wissmann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO on Dec. 23, 2025.
Doris Charlotte Wissmann, nee Barteau, of Pagedale, MO, was born on Monday, March 7, 1927, in St. Louis, MO, to Emil F. Barteau and Charlotte Barteau, nee Madsen. She passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at St. John's Place in St. Louis, MO, at the age of 98 years, 9 months and 12 days.
Doris Wissmann was raised in the St. Louis, Missouri area, growing up in the Pine Lawn and Jennings communities. She was a gifted student and graduated as Valedictorian of her class from Fairview High School in Jennings, MO. On February 14, 1948, Doris married the love of her life, Marvin F. Wissmann, in St. Louis, MO. Their marriage was a true partnership, and together they were blessed with two sons, Tom and Don, who were the pride and joy of her life. Doris accepted the Lord as her personal Savior early in life and was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, where her faith guided her throughout the years. She devoted many years of service as a secretary at Normandy Junior High School, where she was known for her dedication and reliability. Above all else, Doris was deeply involved in her sons' lives. She proudly served as a den mother for the Boy Scouts and was a familiar face at Khoury League baseball games, keeping score and cheering from the sidelines.
Doris had a passion for auctions and antiquing, eventually dealing in antiques herself. In retirement, she and Marvin embraced life as an adventure, enjoying time together and pursuing shared interests. Most of all, Doris loved her family. Time spent with those she loved meant everything to her, and she will be remembered for her devotion, kindness, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Charlotte Barteau; husband, Marvin Wissmann; parents-in-law, John and Ida Wissmann; sister Ruth Schlottach; sister-in-law Adele Cross; brothers-in-law, Jake Wissmann and Alfred "Jasper" Wissmann.
Doris is survived by her sons, Tom Wissmann of Pagedale, MO and Don (wife, Lois) Wissmann of Leasburg, MO; grandchildren, Kim (husband, Jim) Fitzroy of Finksburg, MD, Jon Wissmann of Wichita, KS and Paul (wife, Megan) Wissmann of Plainfield, IL; great grandchildren, Brody Fitzroy, Rowan Fitzroy, Callan Fitzroy and Ethan Fitzroy all of Finksburg, MD, Sawyer Wissmann, Brynn Wissmann, and Caleb Wissman all of Plainfield, IL; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside Service for Doris was at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials were suggested to Wreaths Across America.
