Doris C. Conti Zeli, 93, of McMurray, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Ridgecrest of McMurray. Born in Monessen on Aug. 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Julius R. Conti, a prominent Pharmacist in Monessen for many years, Carrie Mitchell Conti Rossi, and preceded by her husband William Zeli (2/15/2007).
Growing up in Monessen during the 1930’s and 1940’s, Doris Caroline Conti Zeli set two goals for herself.' (She wanted to marry and have children, and she wanted to be an Elementary School Teacher. She achieved both goals before her passing on May 24, 2025. Doris, resided in Rostraver Township for many years prior to moving to Ridgecrest of McMurray (The Waters), was a member of St. Sebastian’s Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, a graduate of Monessen High School in 1949, attended Mt. Mercy College (now Carlow University), and received her Master’s degree in education what was then California State College. She taught at St. Sebastian’s School in Belle Vernon, and in the Belle Vernon Area School District from which she retired in 1993. She was a student teacher supervisor for California University of Pennsylvania, past member of both the P.S.E.A. and the A.F.T. She was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, an Honor Society in Education in 1971, and to Phi Delta Kappa, a professional Fraternity in Education in 1981, and held membership in the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. In 1987 she received the Distinguished Service Award from the Belle Vernon Area School District.
She is survived by a daughter, Laura (Robert) Reilly of Canonsburg, and a son, William (Julie Uhlman) Zeli of Murrysville. Four grandchildren Jonathan (Katie) R. Reilly, Andrew (Kristen) W. Reilly, Larissa M. Zeli, and Zachary W. Zeli, four Great-grandchildren, Robert Jonathan Reilly, Rose Marybelle Reilly, Malia Jules Zeli and Vada Michele Zeli; and a nephew Robert L. Conti; and loving companion Gordon Reid. She was preceded in death by her brother Col. J.R. Conti.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Prayers of Transfer will be held Wednesday at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 10:00 am at St. Sebastian R.C. Church. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery
