Dorlene Mae Sarratore, 99, of Niles, died peacefully Friday, November 9, 2025 in the comfort of her family’s presence.

Her life began August 9, 1926 in Niles, Michigan one of four girls born to Byford and Rubie Jones. She married William DePoy December 4, 1948 in Niles. He preceded her in death December 3, 1995. She then married Joseph Sarratore in September 1996 in Niles. He preceded her in death March 7, 2000.

Dorlene was a 1944 graduate of Niles High School. She went on to Wesley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was educated as part of the United States Cadet Nurse Corp and graduated in 1947. She worked as a nurse in Labor and Delivery for a number of years when it was Pawating Hospital. Dorlene then went on to work for Dr. Landgraf for several years. She had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening flowers. She had a knack for bringing plants back to life. She and her sister, Donna, were founding members of Support the Fort. Dorlene was an avid reader and would read a novel a day.

Dorlene will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by daughters, Connie (Stephen) Morrison of Niles, Barbara (Peter) Farb of Menasha, Wisconsin; son, Roger (Marsha) DePoy of Niles; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husbands; and her sisters.

Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Service on a date and at a time to be announced.

Dorlene will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, William DePoy, in Silverbrook Cemetery.

The family prefers contributions in memory of Dorlene be made to Niles District Library, 620 East Main Street, Niles, Michigan 49120 or to Friends of Silverbrook Cemetery, 1400 East Main Street, Niles, Michigan 49120.
