Dorothy "Dort" Ann Anschuetz, age 83, of Tecumseh, MI, passed away peacefully the morning of Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Charlotte Stephenson Manor in Adrian, MI, under the care of Optimal Care Hospice, with her loving husband at her side. She was born on April 4, 1942, in Tawas City, MI, the daughter of the late Leo Raymond and Mary Catherine (Whitney) Wellna. Dort graduated in 1960 from Tawas Area Schools and went on to attend beauty school. On August 13, 1966 Dort was joined in marriage with Larry "Doc" James Anschuetz; he survives her. Doc and Dort celebrated almost 60 years of marriage and enjoyed lasting memories raising their family in Tecumseh, MI.
Dort possessed a unique love and compassion for children and was employed as a teacher's aide at the Milton C. Porter Education Center in Adrian, MI for over two decades, until she retired in 1999. For several years after her retirement, Dort and Doc spent their winters in Lake Wales, FL. When their grandchildren arrived, Dort insisted it was time to sell; she dearly loved her grandchildren and treasured attending every school and sporting event. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh, MI, for over fifty-two years, where she received a fifty-year certificate as a member of the Altar Society.
Dort is survived by her husband, Doc; her children, Chad (Alana) Anschuetz of West Bloomfield, MI, Brad (Mary) Anschuetz of Adrian, MI, and Larry (Suzanne) Anschuetz Jr. of Sylvania, OH; her grandchildren, Nolan (Demi) Anschuetz of Memphis, TN, Grant (Marissa Immel) Anschuetz of Rochester Hills, MI, Colin (Brooke) Anschuetz of Memphis, TN, Lauren Anschuetz of Sylvania, OH, Joshua (Alexia Pez) Anschuetz of West Bloomfield, MI, Carly Anschuetz of Cullowhee, NC, and Ethan Anschuetz of West Bloomfield, MI; her sister, Geraldine Landry-Cooper of Williamston, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Ellen Allen and Joyce Salters; and her brother Chuck Wellna.
At her request, cremation has taken place. Visitation for Dort will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh, MI, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11am. Inurnment will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh, MI. Memorial contributions in honor of Dort may be made to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, to the Catholic Charities of Lenawee, or to the Brittany E. Ames Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund.

Remembering our years watching baseball games together as our boys grew up in Tecumseh.
Knowing that you are resting in the arms of Jesus now brings great peace to those of us who will remember you.
Prayers for Doc and your family.
