Dorothy Beard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cranston Funeral Home on Feb. 24, 2026.
Our beloved Dottie passed-on in her home from natural causes, surrounded by her loving family, as she was reunited with her husband, Carroll, in the welcoming presence of our Lord. She was 95.

Dottie was born and raised in Seaford to Bill and Ella Friedel on the family farm, northwest of town with her sister, Betty. She attended St John's Church, Seaford Schools, and later, nurse's training. She had many childhood friends and close family in the area. Dottie's kind, sweet disposition and genuine smile drew others to her throughout her long, rich life. While in Seaford Schools, she met the charming love of her life, Carroll. They were soon married in the years that followed and began their family.

Dottie and Carroll settled in their growing hometown of Seaford, and together they built a thriving plumbing service business that was integral to the people and city of Seaford. Many in our local community still remember the uncompromising expertise as their plumbing provider of choice, a tradition that included, and was continued by, their first son, Kevin.

Leisure included time with family and friends, supporting her husband in his Barbershop singing endeavors, Seaford High School Alumni Association functions, vacations near and far, antiquing, needlework, reading, walking with her husband, and helping others in her path however she could.

Dottie was a superb scratch cook. Her family Christmas dinners will forever live in the hearts of her kin. Her food brought everyone together, and the shared fellowship was timeless. She set the warm entertaining standard in her family for generations to come.

Dottie was always more interested and concerned for the wellbeing of others around her than in herself. She was ever such a great listener and full of wisdom and great advice. She will be greatly missed by many. In her final days, she yearned to rejoin her other half who departed this world nearly two years ago, and to find the eternal peace in which she so believed. Dottie's family and friends take great comfort in knowing that they will be with her again, in due time.

Dottie is survived by her two sons, Kevin and Shane, and their families.

Kevin (Justilienna) and daughters: Amy Meding (Sean) and their daughters Juslynn Harris (Mike) and their four children, and Ashley Meding, and her four children; her fifth child, Kylen, was in Heaven to welcome his great great grandmother home. Tiffany Gomez (Chino) and sons Raidel (Mackenzie) and their two daughters, and Javier and his daughter.

Shane (Kimberly) and daughters: Sydney (Dakota) and their daughter Stella, and Jenna (Aidan).

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM with a public visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N Shipley Street, Seaford, DE.
