Dorothy Bobitz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jowett Funeral Home and Cremation Service - New Haven on Mar. 4, 2023.
Dorothy "Dolly" (Kaufmann) Bobitz, of Clinton Township, passed away on March 3, 2023. She was born to the late Wendell and Isabelle Lochbiler.
Dolly attended St. Martin's grade and high school in Detroit and attended U of D for one year. She married Arthur Kaufmann in 1949. They had 4 children together. The marriage ended in 1963. As a single parent, she worked hard to raise her 4 children. She worked at Bundy Tubing 25 years and worked her way up to Purchasing Agent and then retired in 1993. In that same year she married the true love of her life, Earl Bobitz, a widower, with 4 children of his own. They had 3 wonderful years together, traveling and enjoying life together. In 1996 Earl suffered a stroke and passed away. She wanted to give back to the hospital that had provided such good care of Earl. She became a volunteer at McLaren Hospital for 15 years. She was also a volunteer at Fisher Theatre for 48 years.
Dolly spent the rest of her life living alone but was surrounded by many loving family and friends. Many friends over the years were in different card groups which was a favorite past-time. She also took up golf and enjoyed it for many years.
She had an extremely strong faith and was a very strong and resilient woman. At 85 years old she underwent major heart surgery. At 88 years old, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. It metastasized earlier this year and ultimately took her March 3, 2023, with her loving family by her side.
Her greatest love was her family and spending time with them.
She leaves behind her children; Curtis (Ginny) Kaufmann, Arthur "Jay" (Susan) Kaufmann and Mary Lou (George) Kunkle, daughter-in-law, Diane Kaufmann, 10 loving grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by brother-in-law, Ed Sauve and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Bobitz, son, Paul Kaufmann,4 sisters and one brother.
