Dorothy Harris Cabaniss, age 95 of Adairsville, GA, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024 at her residence.
Dorothy was born on September 29, 1928 in Gordon County, GA, the daughter of the late Cecil B. Harris and Irene Knight Harris. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was also preceded in death by: her husband, William Lawrence Cabaniss; one brother, Bobby Harris; and two sisters, Maxine Freeman and Mary Kathryn Griffin. Dorothy was a graduate of Calhoun High School, and a member of Adairsville United Methodist Church. Prior to her retirement, Dorothy was the owner and operator of Country Designs. She volunteered for the American Red Cross, Hospice, and Mountain Top Walk to Emmaus. Dorothy had a love for crocheting and wood crafting. She also loved to travel.
Dorothy is survived by: two daughters, Nancy Cabaniss and her husband Joe King, and Leslie Cabaniss-Martin and her husband Mike Martin; one son, Edward “Eddie” Cabaniss; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 12 PM until 2 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Les Connel officiating. Steve Jackson will have charge of music. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery.
