Dorothy Emline Childers went to be with our Lord and Savior on Feb. 2, 2009 at the age of 91. Born in Oilton, Oklahoma, July 19, 1917, where she also spent her childhood. At age 18 she married the love of her life, Henry Childers, whom she was married to for 70 years. They moved to California in 1941 with their 2 children, and they had 4 more once settled in their home on Pacific Ave. in Olivehurst. She loved to attend church, loved her cactus garden, gardening with her husband, listening to gospel country music, she was the queen bee of camping, loved to play marbles, quilting and crocheting. She is survived by 6 children and their spouses; Lloyd & Gladys Donaldson, Jim & Shirley Childers, Fred & Sharon Childers - all of Olivehurst, CA, Harold & Vina Childers of Live Oak, CA, Jerry & Janie Rhines of roseville, CA, and Dennis & Freida Johnson of Moxee, WA. There are also 18 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 17 great - great grandchildren. She is also survived by her 2 sisters; Evelyn Stewart of Chico, CA and Lois Asher of Olivehurst, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and her beloved husband. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Services will be officiated by Rev. Randy Childers of Arise Ministries. There will be a period of Visitation at the Sierra View Mortuary Chapel in Olivehurst from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, 2/6/09. The Funeral Service will begin at noon in the Chapel immediately following the Visitation.
