Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions - Kettering ChapelDorothy "Dot" Tomlinson Gerwing, age 95, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026. She was born on August 9, 1930, in Dayton, Ohio, to Thomas and Mildred Conley.
Dorothy worked for many years at Drury Printing Company and later retired from the printing industry. She was also a devoted and active member of her church, Corinth Presbyterian, where she faithfully served after joining in 1954. Over the years, she wore many hats, including being a founding member of Presbyweds from 1955 to 1979. She was ordained and served three terms as an elder from 1986 to 1993 and again from 1996 to 1999. She also served as a deacon from 2007 to 2012 and was the treasurer of the Women’s Association for at least 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her loving husbands, George M. Tomlinson Jr., with whom she shared 30 years of marriage, and Edward A. Gerwing, with whom she shared 20 years, as well as her parents and siblings.
She is survived by Marty (Pat) Tomlinson, Terri (Lee) Barlow, and Tim (Ann) Tomlinson; grandchildren Jamie (Tim) Cox, Chad (Kathy) Barlow, Renee (Jake) Walk, Haley (Brian Miller) Barlow, Tory (Kristen) Tomlinson, Tristin Tomlinson, and Tod (Rebecca) Tomlinson; as well as many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and those who lovingly called her “Grandma.”
Family and friends will gather from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd. A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
