Dorothy (LaSalle) Duda, 92, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on November 28, 2025. Born and raised in
Northampton, MA to the late Arthur and Alma (Brochu) LaSalle, Dorothy was a graduate of Northampton High School and valedictorian of her class. On July 4, 1955, she married the love of her life, the late Francis J. Duda. Together, Dorothy and Francis raised a devoted family in
Agawam, MA. Dorothy spent 21 years working for Baystate Medical Center from 1974 until her retirement in 1995.
Dorothy loved to read, cross stitch, tend to her gardens, and bake delicious treats for family gatherings, especially around the holidays. She also enjoyed cheering on her beloved New England Patriots every Sunday. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter while summering at Norwich Lake.
Besides her husband and parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her brother, Robert LaSalle; her sister, Elaine MacInnis; her brothers-in-law, Fredrick MacInnis and Richard Duda; and her sisters-in-law, Connie (Weston) LaSalle and Mildred (Yoblonski) Duda. She will be dearly missed by her loving children: David and his wife Nancy Tanana, James and his wife Sharon, and Karen Foley and her husband Christopher. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren: Jill, Joseph, Meghan and her husband Regin, Shelia, Samantha and her husband Colin, and Brendan; and her great-grandchildren, Savannah and Luisa. Dorothy is also survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Hurley, and Barbara's husband Thomas, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to friends and extended family for their support, kindness, and compassion. They take comfort in knowing she will be reunited with her beloved husband and all those who passed before her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her cherished children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all those whose lives she graced. Dorothy's warmth, devotion, and gentle spirit will be fondly remembered by all.
Visitation services will held at the Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 985 Main St,
Agawam, MA on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 9AM – 11 AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main St, Agawam at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in
Northampton, MA.
