Dorothy Hall Edwards, a cherished member of the Barney community, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the age of 83, after a long battle with illness. Born on September 28, 1941, in Barney to the late Harvey Felton and Doris Dixon Hall, Dorothy was known for her warm heart and dedication to her family and community.
A proud graduate of Morven High School, Dorothy was an active basketball player and carried that spirit of teamwork into all aspects of her life. She embraced her role as a homemaker with grace, but her commitment to Campground Methodist Church was where she truly left her mark, serving diligently as the church treasurer among other roles.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Roland Edwards, her rock through life's journey. She was a devoted mother to her son, Gregory, and daughter-in-law, Sandra Simpson; and her daughters, Nancy (Stillwell Hunt), Angela (Cary Hajek), Jeanne (Jon Easterling), and Christy (Antonio Evans), spread across Alabama and Colorado. She also felt blessed to have her husband's, children, Doug, Janice and Joanne in her life, embracing them as her own. Her legacy continues through her sister-in-law, Norma Jean Hall, nephews Jody and Jamey Hall and her long-time best friend, Karol Fleming. She was a doting grandmother to ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, John Harvey Hall, and her first-born grandchild, Haley Marie Hajek, whose memories she held dear.
Her life will be celebrated with a service at Campground Methodist Church on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 12 Noon, followed by burial in the church cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy's honor can be made to Campground Methodist Church, a place she loved deeply. Condolences may be shared for the family online at www.mclanecares.com.
