Not sure what to say?

Our sympathy to the Eide family for your loss of a great lady.

My life was blessed by her presence in my life for the past few years. Dorothy was a lovely and gracious woman.

God Bless her and the Eide family.

Bruce & Brian,
We are sorry for your loss.
Please celebrate in her long, wonderful life, and now in the arms of Jesus.

We didn’t know Dorothy, but do know Bruce. She raised a fine son. We are sorry for your loss.

Her children were blessed to have a loving mother like Dorothy. I met Dorothy 26 years ago at the Elmwood 9-Hole League. She always had a peaceful countenance about her, but we always had something to laugh about. May she fly with the angels, God bless.

Rest well Dorothy. In my teens I raided your refrigerator many times and engaged lots of shenanigans with Brian in your house, and never once did you yell at us. I don’t recall ever thanking you. Thank you.

Dorothy lived on the same floor as I do here at Trail Ridge. She was a lovely, very friendly person and it was my pleasure to have known her.

Dorothy's Obituary

Dorothy Eide, 100, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, while surrounded by attentive and loving care at Dougherty Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. Following the service, the family warmly invites all who attend to remain for a light lunch and time of fellowship.

Dorothy was born on June 24, 1925, in Grygla, Minnesota, to Albert and Myrna Miller. She attended high school in Goodridge and Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, graduating in 1943. After graduation, she spent several years working in Minneapolis.

She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Vern Eide, in 1947 in Thief River Falls.

Dorothy lived a long, full life—and at the remarkable age of 100, she often joked that she had outlived nearly everyone. Throughout her life she remained devoted to her three children, Bruce Eide, Lisa (Bill) Coughlin, and Brian (Audra) Eide.

She was also the proud grandmother of five fine grandsons—Michael (Valerie), Scott (Jessica), Eric, Brandon (Ariel), and Paul (Amanda)—and she was wildly proud of each and every one of them. Dorothy was also blessed with a beloved great-grandson, William, and two beautiful great-granddaughters, Ella and Evy, who brought her great joy.

In celebration of Dorothy’s 100th birthday, Governor Larry Rhoden of the State of South Dakota proclaimed June 24, 2025, as “Dorothy Eide Day,” a fitting tribute to a woman whose life spanned a century of love, family, and quiet strength.

Memorials may be directed to Feeding South Dakota or Dougherty Hospice House, in gratitude for the care and compassion shown to Dorothy and her family.
