Dorothy Fadell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hanley Funeral Home, Inc. - Staten Island on Feb. 17, 2025.
Dorothy Jane Fadell October 7, 1936 – February 15, 2025 Dorothy Jane "Dot" Fadell, a lifelong resident of Staten Island, NY, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 88 years old. Dorothy had a gift for making people feel loved. Warm, nurturing, and endlessly generous, she had a way of making everyone feel like family. She never met a stranger-if you crossed her path, you became a friend, and she made sure you knew how much you mattered. Her kindness and light touched countless lives. Dorothy built a fulfilling career as a bank teller, working her way up to Head Teller at Chase Bank, where she was known for her kindness and dedication. But it was her family and friends who were the center of her world. She adored spending time with her loved ones, especially during the holidays, when she would cook for days as if preparing to feed an army. Christmas was her favorite time of year-she filled her home and yard with decorations, creating a magical atmosphere for all to enjoy. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society in both Staten Island and New Jersey, where she formed cherished friendships and embraced life's joys with laughter and camaraderie. In her free time, she loved shopping, playing bingo, and coloring, simple pleasures that brought her happiness. Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frederick P. Fadell Jr., in 1993. She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Ferlanti and her husband, Ian, and her son, Frederick P. Fadell III. She also leaves behind her sister, Barbara Down, her brother, Bob Dahl and his wife, Wynthia, as well as her many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, whom she adored. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the American Heart Association. Dot's warmth, kindness, and boundless love will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched.
