Dorothy Garlington

Dorothy (Kenyon) Garlington, 95, of Tiverton, formerly of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2025. She was the wife of the late James Garlington, Jr.

Born in Acushnet, daughter of the late William and Edith (Watson) Kenyon, she lived in the New Bedford area all of her life.

Dorothy was the proud owner and operator of Garlington Florist for over 40 years. Opened in 1924, Dorothy took over operations in the 1980s when her husband passed. She worked in the shop every day until her late 80's to craft beautiful arrangements for thousands of local weddings, funerals, and events. She truly enjoyed her work and interacting with customers day in and day out.

Survivors include her children, Jim Garlington and his wife Susan of Cranston, David Garlington and his wife Monique of New Bedford, Scott Garlington of Pittsfield, and Peter Garlington and his wife Nina of Pittsfield; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her daughter Linda Sylvia.

Her visiting hours will be held Sunday, December 14, 2025 from 2-6 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. A private burial will take place at a later date.
