Mrs. Dorothy Grace Barineau Griffis, 90, went to be with the Lord on, Dec. 1, 2023 at her residence.
Mrs. Griffis was born September 20, 1933, in Grady County, GA, to the late Olin B. Barineau and Grace Muggridge Barineau. She had lived in Fargo since 1959. She was a retired teacher having worked in Grady County, Greenville, FL, and Fargo, GA. She was a member of the Fargo United Methodist where they attended until it's closing and now was attending the Fargo Evangelistic Church; she played piano for both churches and taught Sunday School. Mrs. Griffis was a member of the Clinch Retired Teacher Association, Fargo Senior Citizens, Valdosta Travel Club, DFCS Board and was a Pink Lady at the hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister: Barbara Haynie; one grandson: Kyle Ware.
Survivors are her husband of 68 years: Edwin Alphin Griffis, Fargo; five daughters: Grace Parsons, husband Bill, Waycross, Georgia Griffis, Jessica Hart, Cordele, Carol Leggett, husband Ken and Cheryl Ware, husband David, both of Whigham and Melissa Kelly, husband Steven, Tifton; four grandchildren: Thomas Leggett, III, Rachel Leggett-Clement (Hal), Eryn Parsons, and Ericka McIntosh, (Randy); four great grandchildren: Will McIntosh, Kate McIntosh, Cash Carter and Caylor Carter and several other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Griffis will be held Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, at 11 am from the Chapel of Roundtree Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Fargo Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday, from 10 till 11 at the funeral home.
