Dennis “Lamar” Cribbs was born on November 5, 1963, in Homerville, Georgia, and was raised in Fargo, Georgia. He passed away peacefully at his home in Jasper, Florida, on January 2, 2026.
Lamar was a strong-willed, determined man who lived life on his own terms. Those who knew him understood that his love ran deep and was shown through loyalty, presence, and action. He valued hard work, independence, and the simple things in life.
He enjoyed being outdoors and felt most at peace doing what he loved—hunting, fishing, searching for arrowheads, and riding the river with friends and family. These moments reflected who he was at heart: grounded, steady, and content with simplicity.
He was married to the love of his life, Karen Cribbs, for 36 years, having wed on December 16, 1989. Together they built a close and devoted family. Lamar was extremely proud of his daughter, Mikaila Cribbs Croft, and all she accomplished in her life, especially her dedication and hard work toward becoming a registered nurse. Though he wasn’t one to boast, his pride in her was unwavering.
Lamar deeply appreciated his son-in-law, Jonathan Croft, whom he loved as the son he never had. Their bond was built on respect, trust, and shared time.
The apple of Lamar’s eye was his precious granddaughter, Adallen Croft. Their bond was unbreakable. He cherished every moment with her—riding the four-wheeler, the golf cart, and Pa’s tractor, or simply sharing his recliner, watching TV, and eating snacks together. Being Adallen’s grandpa was Lamar’s proudest accomplishment and brought him more joy than anything else in life.
Behind Lamar’s tough exterior was a man who carried a lifelong love for his daughter, Creasie Lee Cribbs, who preceded him in death. Her loss marked him profoundly, and he often spoke of it, that love never faded.
Lamar also had a deep affection for his dogs, Pax and Kane, who were constant companions and brought comfort and joy to his days.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Cribbs; his daughter, Mikaila (Jonathan) Croft; his granddaughter, Adallen Croft; and his sister, Ima Jean Knowles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isom Dewy and Sara Mae Cribbs; his daughter, Creasie Lee Cribbs; his brothers, Melvin Allen Cribbs, Elton Cribbs, Willard Cribbs, Dewey Allen Cribbs, and James Cribbs; and his sisters, Nellouise Cribbs Ellis and Mary Alice Cribbs Guess.
A visitation will be held on January 7, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Harry T. Reid Funeral in Jasper, Florida, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM.
Lamar will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, dedication, and unwavering love he gave to his family. His legacy lives on in those he loved and the life he built.
