Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Lucille Cain Jones, 91, beloved wife of the late Mr. L. C. Jones, peacefully entered into rest on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers: Georgia Mae Miles, William Allen Cain, Leroy Cain, Sara Lou Cain, and Julia Frances Garbutt.
The family will greet friends on Monday morning, June 26, 2023, beginning at 10 o'clock at Langley First Baptist Church followed by a Celebration of Life service at noon with Rev. Gareth Hegler officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Joseph Jones, Jackson Jones, Jaysen Jones, Brian Jones, Daniel Jones, Preston Hensley, Avery Carter, Chase Carter, Kasey Jones, and Riley Jones.
Left to cherish Mrs. Dot's memory are her children: Lewis Cleveland "Sonny" Jones (Robin), of Burnettown, SC, Mark Hudson Jones (Diane), of North Augusta, SC, Mary Sue Hensley (Mark Johnson), of Goose Creek, SC, Leif Alexander Jones (Vaughn Mayfield), of Pendergrass, GA, and Justin Brooks Jones (Becky), of Lexington, SC. Her grandchildren: Joseph Jones (Ashton), Jackson Jones, Jaysen Jones, Brian Jones, Daniel Jones (Erika), Brooke Thornsberry (Gary), Preston Hensley, Avery Carter (Chase), Kasey Jones, and Riley Jones. Her great-grandchildren: Sophia Jones, Charley and Olivia Carter, Haley and Natalie Thornsberry, Aubree M. Jones, Jaysen R. Jones, and Liam F. Jones.
Mrs. Jones was born in Emanuel County, GA to the late Hudson and Julia Brooks Cain. She graduated from Leavelle McCampbell High School in 1949 and was a member of the 49ers. She was a sweet homemaker who loved to sing and whistle and make people smile. She spent her years caring for and inspiring her family. She was employed by the Georgia Railroad Bank in her early years, and later was the beloved "Avon Lady'' for many, many years, a member of Langley First Baptist Church and their Adult Choir and Treasury Committee. She was the first female member of the Midland Valley Lions Club, a member of The Gideons Auxiliary and loved distributing bibles to graduating nurses and for other community causes, and a member of Constellation Chapter #97 of the Order of The Eastern Star where she served as a past Worthy Matron.
