Mrs. Dorothy Marie Barnes Helms, 65, a resident of Gillham, passed away from this life on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at her mother's home.
She was born on December 31, 1959, in Roseburg, Oregon. She was a member of Gillham United Methodist Church. She was a retired correction officer.
Mrs. Helms was preceded in death by her father, Columbus Benjamin Barnes; her husband, William "Eddie" Helms; and one brother, Preston Barnes.
She is survived by one son, Ben Burleson of Ottumwa, Iowa; her mother, Dorothy Maxine Barnes of Gillham, AR; two grandsons, Cristopher Burleson of Nolanville, Texas; Kameron Burleson of Ottumwa, Iowa; one granddaughter, Rebecca Burleson of Ottumwa, Iowa; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Debra Barnes of Gillham; one sister, Kathy and Bill Joyce of Gillham, AR; two great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews, Stephanie and Ryleigh Staggs, Maranda, Haileigh and Nate Jones, James, Katie, and Laken Barnes, Barry, Dusty and Jamie Boling; one sister-in-law, Kathy Barnes; and many cousins, family and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Helms will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stephen Copley officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Cemetery in Gillham, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family will receive friends from noon until service time on Saturday.
