Dorothy Mascarenas, 85, passed away October 7, 2025. She was born August 24, 1940 in Rodarte, New Mexico to parents, Levi and Augustina (Muniz) Sanchez. Both precede her in death along with her husband, Robert Mascarenas; sons, Frank Mascarenas and Robert Mascarenas Jr.; grandson, Derrick Sanchez; siblings, Leo, John, Paul, Levi Jr., and Shirley.
Dorothy was an excellent cook and made the best bread, you never left her home hungry. One of her favorite foods was Onion Rings. She loved cowboys and her favorite song was, "When A Cowboy Rides Away" by George Strait. She also enjoyed watching her Novellas. Dorothy always had a kind word for everyone. She sacrificed a lot; she would go without making sure everyone had and was taken care of. She was an expert on Facebook; she loved to catch up with what was going on with her Facebook friends. She was very meticulous with her home. She loved to decorate and make sure everything was clean and in its place. Dorothy loved to crochet, making sure every grandchild received their crochet blanket. She was very devoted to her family. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her. She was very faithful, her love was for the Lord, always instilling that in her children. Dorothy was the matriarch of 5 generations; she was our Queen!
Dorothy is survived by her children, David Mascarenas, Diana (Mark) Duran, and Debbie Sanchez; 7 grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, Eric, Jeremy (Desirae), Shannon (Josh), Anthony and Brandi; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; siblings, Gilberto Sanchez, Alice Sanchez, and Floyd (Margie) Sanchez.
