Dorothy Matthews

Dorothy Lorraine (Kennedy) Matthews, age 92, passed away peacefully at Highgate Senior Living in Prescott, Arizona on May 25, 2023.
Dorothy was born on May 17, 1931 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Gilbert Lawrence Kennedy Sr. and Myrtle Mae Kennedy (Tanner).
Dorothy married the love of her life Ben F. Matthews, on December 4, 1954 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dorothy graduated from Grainola, Oklahoma High School in 1949 and completed one year of Nurses Training at Hillcrest Morningside Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She served her community on both the Wenden and Salome School Boards, through the VFW Auxiliary and GFWC Vi-Sa-Wen and Monday Club and as a member of the Board of Directors for Parker Community Hospital.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters Debra Nez and husband Frankie, Susan R. Matthews and son Marcus B. Matthews, brother Gordon Kennedy and wife Carol, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother, she managed the family farm operations, she was a great cook, seamstress and quilter. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends, rodeos, PBR Events, camping, travels and sharing a good joke. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. We will always remember her beautiful smile and shared memories.

A Celebration of Dorothy's Life will be held at 10am Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Wickenburg Funeral Home. e She will be laid to rest with her husband Ben at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery.
