Dorothy McCall Obituary
She was born October 29, 1931 at home in Emmaus, a daughter of the late Ralph & Jennie (Rader) Bittenbender. She was the widow of William L. McCall who died in 1995.
Dorothy was a 1949 graduate of Emmaus H.S. She worked in retail apparel for Famous Maid and later in the fabric business at the Bethlehem Fabric Mart. An accomplished seamstress, she shared her talent as a sewing instructor. Her skill was evidenced in the many treasured gifts she made to family, friends, and charities. She was an avid reader who stayed informed of current events. Dorothy kept active at the gym until age 90. She was a past member of the Emmaus Historical Society, and her memories of Emmaus were of interest to her family. Dorothy cherished her family and friends, and she will be remembered with love and affection.
Dorothy is survived by nieces and nephews: James (Maureen) Reichl, Kathryn Pherson, Rosemary (Thomas) Benedick, Charles (April) Reichl, Dorothy (Scott) Stahl, Gerald (Sharon) Royer, Thomas (Gail) Royer, Fred Royer, and sister-in-law Lucy McCall as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A graveside gathering will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Allentown on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11 AM. Dorothy was very close to her great-nephew Matthew Reichl who died from a brain tumor. In her honor, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's name to the National Brain Tumor Society, 55 Chapel Street, Suite 200, Newton, MA 02458. So many fond memories of Dotty and Bill during the Summer months when we would spend every Sunday at Emmaus Community Park with all our families. Dotty was always smiling and so kind and generous. She will be missed.
