Dorothy Migliozzi Obituary

Dorothy J. Migliozzi, 95, of Delmont, formerly of Penn Hills, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025. She was born on March 6, 1930, the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Cappuccio) Iole. Dorothy enjoyed growing up in the Italian neighborhood of East Liberty and was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America. More recently, she belonged to St. Barbara Catholic Church in Harrison City. She loved being active playing tennis and pickleball, traveling, playing cards, and entertaining. Dorothy loved nothing more than cooking meals and creating fun memories for her many friends and large family, whether in her Pennsylvania home or in her places by the sea in Myrtle Beach and Florida. Her big laugh was her signature! In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 72 years, her forever partner, Jerry Migliozzi. She was also the last of eight siblings, who always relied on her as the heart of their family. Dorothy will be especially missed by her loving children: Anna Marie (Dick) Rettger of Plum, Catherine (Carl) DiPietro of Murrysville, Jay (Tracy) Migliozzi of Churchill, Joe (Debbie) Migliozzi of Pittsburgh, and Dina (Tony) Iovino of Irwin. Dorothy was a proud Grammy to her 14 grandchildren, Nicole Iole, Carl, Mark, and Greg DiPietro, Jay Migliozzi and Lauren Ebott, John, Jeffrey, Marc, and Evan Migliozzi, Samantha Edmonds, Natalie Silva, Maria Figurelli, and Anthony Iovino, and their spouses. Her 20 great-grandchildren have also brought so much joy to her life. Numerous nieces and nephews will also miss their aunt Dorothy. A Mass for Dorothy will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Harrison City, 111 Raymaley Road, Harrison City, PA 15636, with a celebration of her life to follow. The Mass will be live streamed and can be accessed live by going to stbarbara.org or later on YouTube at St Barbara-Harrison City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Her family also kindly asks that you remember her by enjoying your own family at a Sunday meal, the way she always enjoyed her loved ones. VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Dr., Delmont, (724-468-1177), has been entrusted with the arrangements. To the Migliozzi Family, My mother was Mary Lou Ciaccia DeMartini, Dorothy's cousin. I remember fondly all the visits we had with Dorothy throughout my childhood. I always remember she was so much fun and was always laughing. My mother always loved her and enjoyed her company. As we got older, the visits were few and far between, but still very enjoyable. I have very good memories of all of us sitting around the table laughing and sharing stories. I'm sure Dorothy and my mom are laughing and having fun together now. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I have so many wonderful memories of Aunt Dorothy. As my godmother, she´s been a part of my life since the day I was born. The Migliozzi family may not have been my biological family; however, they certainly were family. I´ll forever hold in my heart the many gatherings, parties dinners and holidays our families shared together - so many of them made special by Aunt Dorothy´s love and laughter!

Dear Anna, Jay, Cathy, Dina & Joe, I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Dorothy`s passing. I´m pretty sure God bringing her home on the same day, three years later after your dad, is a comfort and NOT a coincidence. It does bring my heart joy to think of her with Uncle Jerry, my Mom and all their siblings there in heaven - reunited after all these years. May we all one day meet together there! I´m so very glad I called your mom in October. We had a great talk. I had wanted Anna to send me a few pictures of her new place. Maybe when things settle down? I´d like to see where she lived. She said she really liked it. Unfortunately, I will be on a business trip this coming weekend so I won´t make it to see you all. Hugs and kisses to everyone. Love, Dale
