Dorothy Patrick Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davis Funeral Home - Mattapan on Feb. 22, 2025.
With heavy hearts we share the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Dorothy Patrick. On February 16, 2025, at the age of 83, she was called home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength that will forever be cherished.
Born on June 23, 1941, in Hartsville, South Carolina, Dorothy's life was one of devotion-to her family, her community, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She graduated from Butler High School, where she was very popular, played basketball, and was involved in many other school activities. Soon after she moved to New Jersey, where she became a beloved presence in the home of her aunt Ruth and uncle Frank, helping care for their children and becoming an integral part of their family.
It was in New Jersey that Dorothy met her husband, the late Henry Patrick and they married in 1959. Together, they built a life raising their children, Michael, Theresa, and Lisa. Though their hearts were forever marked by the loss of their daughter Lisa in 1964, Dorothy's unwavering strength and boundless love became the foundation of her family.
Dorothy had a gift for making people feel welcomed and cherished. Her radiant smile, her generous heart, and her nurturing spirit touched the lives of so many-whether family, friends, or even those she met in passing. She had a way of turning every interaction into a meaningful connection.
An avid walker, Dorothy could often be seen leading strolls through Boston, encouraging others to embrace a healthy and active lifestyle. Her career was just as inspiring-she excelled in roles that showcased her natural leadership, keen observation, and ability to bring out the best in others. She worked as an undercover investigator, a fashion consultant for Lane Bryant, and spent years at Wang Laboratories before retiring from Wells Fargo's Advisor group, where she left behind a legacy of excellence and professionalism.
Dorothy's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and her church family at People's Baptist Church was a source of deep friendship and support. She became a member in 2006 and joined the hospitality group and the response team. She was also the leader for The Greeters Ministries as she formed lifelong bonds with many within the congregation. She was also honored and recognized for her dedication and faithfulness in 2012.
She is survived by her loving children: Theresa Hilliard and Michael Patrick and his wife, Valerie. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Khaleelah, LaToya, Shameerah, and Anthony (AJ), as well as her precious great-grandchildren: Tahtianni, Zoriyah, Laila, and Noah.
Dorothy is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: sisters Sylvia Jackson Jacobs, Minnie Smith, and Annie Thompson, and brothers John Wilson and Frank Wilson. She leaves behind cherished sisters-in-law, Silvia Pearson and Clyde Grace, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the incredible life she lived. Dorothy's love, wisdom, and warmth will live on in our hearts forever. She is now at peace, reunited with those she loved, watching over us with that beautiful smile we will never forget.
