Dorothy Maxine Pike, 90, of Piedmont, Oklahoma passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 17, 2023. Dorothy was born on May 4, 1933, to Perry Town and Edna Bigelow Town in Shattuck, Oklahoma. Dorothy was raised in Arnett, Oklahoma and attended Arnett Schools. Dorothy had a very close bond with all of her Arnett classmates, and they all remained close friends throughout the years.
Dorothy married Billy Ray Pratt in Arnett, OK and they had three children, Sheri, Willa, and Mike. Billy Ray died tragically in an auto accident in 1958. Dorothy and the children then moved to Oklahoma City where she met and married Al Pike. Al had two daughters of his own, Ann and Terri, and together they raised their family in Oklahoma City. Al and Dorothy owned Pike's Car Wash which they ran and operated together until their retirement.
Dorothy loved more than anything to attend all her grandchildren and great grandchildren's school, sporting, and life events, so much so that she became all of her grandkids' friends Grandma Dorothy too. As one friend recently said, anyone's Grandma that knows all of her grandkids' friends is one special lady, that's for sure! She was so present and always there to support and love on them. Dorothy was also an avid NBA follower more specifically the L.A. Lakers. Dorothy is certainly shooting hoops with Kobe in heaven now!
Dorothy was predeceased in death by both of her husbands, her parents, her brother Donald Town, sister-in-law Margaret Town, and her daughter Sheri Proctor. Dorothy is survived by her daughters Willa Ross (Tom) of Piedmont, OK, Ann Wilson (Rick) of West Frankfurt, IL, Terri Wilson of Eustis, FL and her son, Mike Pike, of Piedmont, OK. Her grandchildren, Matt Capshaw, Libby Proctor, Heather Chester, Justin Ross, Joanna Hutchinson, Jimmy Pike, Amy Townsend, Stephanie Luke, T'Aira Hampleman, Tawny Pike and her very special niece Jolene Skaggs. Dorothy had 23 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren with 1 more on the way.
A very special thank you to Morada at Lake Hefner Assisted Living and Bristol Hospice where Dorothy resided and was so lovingly taken care of the last 3 months of her life. Your love, dedication and care of Dorothy will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 N. Council Rd. Oklahoma City, OK 73132. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Buchanan Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
