Craig Cooper Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Buchanan Funeral Service on Mar. 16, 2026.
Craig Lee Cooper was born on December 20, 1968, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Noel G. Cooper and Anzetta M. Palm.

A life-long member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Bethany, Craig's faith was nurtured from his earliest days. He was baptized on January 19, 1669, by Rev. Willard Stark, with sponsors Lavern Carroll, Arlene Palm, and stand-in sponsor Roaslie Seebeck. He publicly confessed his faith and was confirmed on May 22, 1983.

Craig graduated from Putnam City West High School in 1987 and later earned certifications in Food Service from Francis Tuttle Career Tech. He worked faithfully from Wendy's, Luby's, and the Walmart Bakery, where he was known for his reliability, kindness, and steady presence.

For the past nine years, Craig was a devoted member of Tuesdays with Friends at his church. He joyfully embraced his role as the group's "card guy," sending greeting anniversary, get-well moments, or sympathy need- always attentive to the joys and sorrows of others.

Craig had many passions that brought him delight. He was an avid fan of Doctor Who, the St. Louis Cardinals, OSU football, Thunder basketball, and Minnesota hockey. He loved storm chasing and following Channel 5 weather. In recent years, he enjoyed Bingo, Uno, Skip-Bo, and painting with his friend Linda Melders.

Craig entered the Kingdom of Glory on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the age of 57 years. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Craig is survived by his sister, Doris Horn, and her husband, Ron, along with their daughter, Erin Mahan. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Dockray, and her husband, Larry, and their children: Riley Dockray and his wife, Michelle, and their children, Cooper and Jack; and niece Kelsey Dockray. He leaves behind many other cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

Visitation with Family present will be held on Thursday, March 19th, 2026 from 6-8p.m. at Buchanan Funeral Services.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, with Rev. Dr. Gary Rohwer officiating.

A Graveside Service will follow at 2:30PM on Friday, March 20th, at Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City.

Pallbearers are Larry Dockray, Riley Dockray, Vic Noer, and Ron Horn. Honorary pallbearers are Craig Kiefer, Daniel Harrington, Steve Tosh, and Dough Palm.

Doris, Janet and family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. Craig and I had a lot of adventures and fun over the last decade plus. We actually met at Lake Park in elementary school, eventually graduated PCWest and then reconnected years later at The Mail Drop. Craig made me laugh. We had many conversations recalling childhood friends we knew. He loved going to Barnes & Noble, Vintage Stock and out to eat at Braum´s, OutBack, Olive Garden & Texas Roadhouse. Always a Salad please. We made a few road trips to Elk City and Stillwater and just around Oklahoma City. He liked to just go. I enjoyed our friendship. I already miss the daily phone calls. I will miss receiving my Birthday cards and holiday cards sometimes months in advance; I actually already have my birthday and Christmas cards for 2026 plus a couple others I´m holding until the appropriate time. Our hope is in Jesus and we will see each other again. Romans 8:18
