Obituary published on Legacy.com by Buchanan Funeral Service on Mar. 11, 2026.
Janith Marilyn Brown, 87, of Oklahoma City died Thursday,February 26, 2026.

Born December 3rd, 1938 at home in Bradford Illinois to Marguerite and Glenn Wall.

She moved from Bradford to Chicago for a new job. After a short time, she enrolled at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, graduated 3 years later with a Christion Education Diploma.

In 1960 she met Kenneth Brown of Lombard Illinois at a roller-skating rink. They dated for 2 years and then married in June of 1962. They were married for 63 years, and lived in the suburbs of Chicago until 1983 when they were then transferred to Oklahoma City.

Jan Brown worked as a secretary at Conservative Baptist Home Mission Society in Wheaton Illinois for 21 years, and Francis Tuttle for 15 years after moving to Oklahoma.

She had a vibrant faith in her Savior Jesus Christ and served on the Christian Education Committee at Harvard Avenue Bible Church in Villa Park Illinois for a number of years. She held CEF Bible clubs for neighborhood kids in her home. She was also a leader in the AWANA programs in her churches regularly picking up children to bring to club. She was a woman of prayer and prayed for and with her children. Several of her work mates at Francis Tuttle have commented how she would spend her lunch break in Bible reading and prayer always including the needs of other workers and their families in her prayers.

She carried her farm upbringing into her adult life with a love for gardening. Her home was always filled with plants and flowers inside and out.

She was lovingly devoted to her husband and her family. She loved cooking and entertaining, especially around holidays. The family has many fond memories of celebrations around the table which often included friends and extended family both near and far.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Truman Brown, and their 3 children, Julie Ann Marsh (Kevan), Douglas Kenneth Brown (Juli), and Cheryl Lynette Ramirez, her 2 sisters, Mary Louise Herrmann, Ruth Ann Brushwyler, and 1 brother Gary Wall, 11 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

Service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday March 5th at Heritage Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Todd and Pamela Price with the Pioneers at give.pioneers.org
