Dorothy Lee Bruce Rainey, 93, passed peacefully on August 24, 2025. Born and raised in Cartersville, Georgia, Dorothy attended Cartersville High School, where she was active in drama, played the clarinet, served as a majorette, and was honored as Miss Cartersville at just 15 years old.
A devoted follower of Christ, Dorothy instilled her deep faith in her children and was a lifelong member of church choirs. Gifted with a beautiful soprano voice, she earned a vocal scholarship and shared her music joyfully wherever she worshiped.
Dorothy worked tirelessly throughout her life, serving many years as Secretary/Treasurer for Fortenberry Realty before becoming a Realtor with Harry Norman Realtors. Her energy and dedication inspired those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Olivia Haygood and Joseph Edwin Bruce, Sr.; sisters Mary Jo, Neloise, and Helen; and brothers Edwin and Selwyn.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Edie; her son, Bruce; grandsons Kyle and Ryan; and granddaughters Lee, Ysabel, and Molly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 20, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Chapel, 3940 Macland Road, Powder Springs, GA (770-943-1511). Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of her remarkable life.
